This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets EIF4EBP1 (also known as 4E-BP1), a translational repressor that binds eIF4E and blocks cap-dependent mRNA translation when hypophosphorylated. Antibodies.com raises the reagent in rabbit and supplies it as 100 µl of polyclonal IgG, unconjugated and free of reporter tags, which makes it a flexible building block for both Western blot and immunohistochemistry workflows on human samples.

EIF4EBP1 sits downstream of mTOR complex 1, where sequential phosphorylation at Thr37/46, Thr70, and Ser65 releases the protein from eIF4E and permits translation of structured 5' UTR mRNAs. Because of this central position in growth-factor and nutrient signaling, the antibody is widely used in studies of mTOR pathway activity, cell-size control, autophagy, and tumor biology. On Western blot, the reagent detects the three canonical electrophoretic forms of 4E-BP1 (the hyperphosphorylated γ band, the intermediate β band, and the hypophosphorylated α band), giving a built-in read-out of mTORC1 flux. In IHC on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded human tissue, it can be applied to map 4E-BP1 expression across tumor and matched normal sections.

Reactivity is reported for human. The product is supplied at 100 µl, unconjugated, in a vial that can be stored and aliquoted in the laboratory. Researchers commonly titrate it for their own lysate or tissue conditions and pair it with an HRP- or fluorophore-conjugated secondary antibody as required by their detection system.
