This rabbit polyclonal IgG antibody from Antibodies.com is raised against eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4E (EIF4E) when phosphorylated at serine 209. The S209 site lies within a conserved region whose modification is catalyzed by the MAP kinase-interacting kinases MNK1 and MNK2, placing phospho-EIF4E directly downstream of the Ras/Raf/MEK/ERK cascade and making it a widely used readout of cap-dependent translational control.

The reagent is supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated antiserum in a single-use vial, suitable for western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence workflows on human samples. Because the epitope requires phosphorylation at position 209, lysates or sections should be prepared with phosphatase inhibitors to preserve the modified residue, and a positive control such as EGF- or serum-stimulated cell lysate is recommended alongside untreated samples to confirm phospho-specificity.

Researchers studying oncogenic MAPK signaling, mTOR crosstalk, stress-granule biology, or anti-tumor strategies that target the MNK-EIF4E axis use this reagent to monitor translation initiation activity in tumor and normal cell backgrounds.
