Raised in rabbit against the eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4E target, this unconjugated polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com supports cap-dependent translation research across western blot, immunohistochemistry, immunocytochemistry, and immunoprecipitation workflows. The antibody recognizes eIF4E in human, mouse, and rat samples, enabling comparative studies of translational control in cell lines and primary tissues.

Supplied at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol as a stabilizing cryoprotectant, the 100 µl aliquot permits multiple experimental runs. Storage at -20 °C in small aliquots limits freeze-thaw cycles and preserves binding activity over time. Sodium azide in the buffer prevents microbial contamination during routine benchtop use.

eIF4E binds the 7-methylguanosine cap of mRNAs and recruits the eIF4F complex to initiate cap-dependent translation. Its activity is regulated through MAPK/MNK-mediated phosphorylation at Ser209, linking it to oncogenic signaling, stress responses, and synaptic plasticity. Researchers apply this antibody to probe translation initiation in cancer biology, neurobiology, and studies of mTOR pathway crosstalk.

As an unconjugated primary reagent, the antibody is compatible with custom labeling and a range of secondary detection systems, including HRP, biotin, and fluorophore conjugates. It is intended for research use only and is not validated for diagnostic applications.
