Manufactured by Antibodies.com, this rabbit polyclonal reagent is raised against eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4E and recognizes an epitope surrounding residues 207–211 (S-G-S-T-T) of the human protein. The antibody specifically detects endogenous levels of total eIF4E, the 25 kDa mRNA cap-binding subunit of the eIF-4F complex involved in the early steps of cap-dependent translation initiation. It is supplied as an affinity-purified, unconjugated preparation at 1.0 mg/mL in phosphate-buffered saline (pH 7.4) containing 150 mM NaCl, 0.02% sodium azide, and 50% glycerol, and is offered in a 50 µl format. The host species is rabbit, clonality is polyclonal (IgG isotype), and the conjugate is unconjugated, making the reagent suitable for secondary-labeling workflows. Validated applications include Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and immunocytochemistry/immunofluorescence, with reactivity confirmed in human, mouse, and rat samples. Suggested working ranges reported by the supplier are approximately 1:500–1:1000 for Western blot, 1:50–1:100 for immunohistochemistry, and 1:100–1:200 for immunofluorescence, although optimal dilutions should be determined empirically. The product is shipped at 4°C; upon receipt it should be aliquoted and stored at –20°C, with repeated freeze/thaw cycles avoided to preserve activity. The antibody is intended for research use only and is not approved for diagnostic or therapeutic applications. For research laboratories studying cap-dependent translation, mRNA metabolism, or signaling pathways that converge on eIF4E regulation, this reagent provides a well-characterized polyclonal option from Antibodies.com with broad species reactivity and compatibility with standard immunodetection techniques.
