Anti-EIF4B Antibody - Identical to Abcam (ab186856)

Raised in rabbit against a recombinant fragment corresponding to human EIF4B (residues 350 to the C-terminus; UniProt P23588), this unconjugated polyclonal IgG reagent from Antibodies.com detects endogenous eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4B. The antibody is supplied as 200 µL of liquid in PBS (pH 7.3) containing 0.02% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, and is intended for research use only.

The reagent is validated for Western blot at a working dilution of 1/500 to 1/2000, where it produces a band near the predicted 69 kDa molecular weight on lysates from human cell lines including MCF7, HeLa, 293T, and M21. Paraffin-embedded immunohistochemistry is supported at 1/50 to 1/200, with published images showing EIF4B labelling in human breast cancer tissue at 400x magnification. Immunocytochemistry and immunofluorescence have been demonstrated on U2OS cells with DAPI counterstaining, and the reagent is also used for immunoprecipitation of native EIF4B complexes.

Reactivity covers human and mouse samples, and the antibody is appropriate for studies of cap-dependent translation initiation, mTORC1 signalling, PI3K-AKT pathway activity, MYC-driven lymphomagenesis, viral IRES-mediated translation, and neural stem cell maintenance. To preserve activity, aliquot the vial on receipt and store at -20 °C, protecting from light and minimising freeze-thaw cycles.
