This rabbit polyclonal IgG reagent from Antibodies.com was raised against eukaryotic translation initiation factor 3 subunit E (EIF3E), the p48 component of the eIF3 holocomplex that scaffolds 40S ribosomal subunit recruitment during cap-dependent translation initiation. The unconjugated antibody is provided as 200 µl of polyclonal serum and has been validated for Western blot detection of endogenous EIF3E in lysates prepared from human and zebrafish samples. EIF3E, also called INT6 because it was originally identified as a frequent integration site for the mouse mammary tumor virus (MMTV), has been linked in published studies to altered translation control in breast carcinoma, lung adenocarcinoma, and melanoma. Researchers studying ribosome biogenesis, the cap-binding initiation step, or MMTV-induced oncogenesis can use this reagent to probe whole-cell extracts under reducing SDS-PAGE conditions. Upon receipt, aliquot the antibody into working volumes, refrigerate, and protect from light to preserve activity across repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
