Anti-EIF3E Antibody

Raised in rabbit, this polyclonal IgG reagent targets the EIF3E subunit of the eukaryotic translation initiation factor 3 (eIF3) complex and is supplied by Antibodies.com as 100 µL of unconjugated antiserum calibrated for immunoblotting. EIF3E, also historically referred to as INT6, EIF3S6, or eIF3-p48, is a core scaffold component of the 13-subunit eIF3 holocomplex, where it cooperates with the 40S ribosomal subunit during cap-dependent translation initiation and assembly of the 43S preinitiation complex. In addition to its scaffolding role, EIF3E acts as a negative regulator of mTORC1/S6K1 signaling and has been studied extensively as a candidate tumor suppressor: the murine Int6 locus was originally identified as a common integration site for mouse mammary tumor virus (MMTV) in preneoplastic mammary outgrowth lines, and C-terminal truncations of the gene product drive cellular transformation in both in vivo and in vitro model systems.

The reagent is intended for research use only in workflows that probe translation factor stoichiometry, dissect INT6 tumor suppressor biology in breast and lung cancer model systems, and examine crosstalk between cap-dependent translation and mTOR pathway activity.
