EHMT2, also referred to as G9a or KMT1C, is a euchromatic histone methyltransferase that catalyzes mono- and dimethylation of histone H3 at lysine 9, a chromatin modification associated with transcriptional silencing outside of heterochromatic regions. This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com is raised against the EHMT2 target and supplied as 100 µl of liquid antibody in a vial. It is validated for Western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) workflows and has been confirmed reactive against Human, Mouse, and Rat samples, supporting cross-species studies of epigenetic gene regulation.

EHMT2 has been characterized in the contexts of embryonic stem cell differentiation, neuronal lineage commitment, and repression of pluripotency genes, while aberrant EHMT2 activity has been documented in several solid tumors, including bladder, breast, and lung carcinomas. Researchers commonly use this antibody to probe whole-cell lysates or formalin-fixed tissue sections to assess endogenous protein levels and nuclear localization. The polyclonal format provides multi-epitope recognition, which can be useful when working with denatured targets on western blots or fixed tissue in IHC.

As supplied, the reagent should be handled as a single-use research aliquot: divide into working portions upon first thaw to limit freeze-thaw cycles, and store the antibody according to standard conditions for polyclonal primaries. The unconjugated format allows downstream pairing with HRP-, fluorophore-, or biotin-conjugated secondary reagents of the researcher's choice.
