This rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com is raised against the EGFR receptor tyrosine kinase using an immunogen derived from the region surrounding residue 1086 of the human protein, located within the C-terminal regulatory tail downstream of the kinase domain. The reagent is supplied as an unconjugated IgG preparation at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) with 0.05% sodium azide at approximately pH 7.2, and is packaged as a 50 µl vial sized for routine immunoblotting and staining workloads.

Recommended applications include western blot detection of endogenous EGFR in lysates prepared from human, mouse, and rat samples, and immunohistochemistry on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections for visualizing receptor distribution in normal and neoplastic epithelium. As a polyclonal reagent, the antibody binds multiple epitopes across the intracellular portion of the receptor, supporting robust signal in studies of total EGFR expression, ligand-induced receptor internalization, and characterization of carcinoma cell lines and xenograft tumor models.

For handling, store the vial at -20 °C for long-term stability, with working aliquots held at 4 °C to limit freeze-thaw exposure and preserve binding activity. A brief centrifugation step before opening helps recover the full 50 µl volume. Because the buffer contains 0.05% sodium azide as a preservative, samples should be exchanged into azide-free buffer if downstream conjugation or live-cell labeling is planned.
