Polyclonal antibody raised in rabbit against eukaryotic translation elongation factor 1-alpha 1 and 1-alpha 2 (EEF1A1 and EEF1A2), two closely related isoforms of the canonical EF-1α translation machinery. Both isoforms catalyze the GTP-dependent delivery of aminoacyl-tRNA to the ribosome during protein synthesis, and they also participate in cytoskeletal regulation, apoptosis signaling, and stress granule dynamics outside their canonical translation role.

This unconjugated reagent from Antibodies.com is supplied at 100 µl per vial and is validated for western blot and ELISA workflows on human, mouse, and rat samples. EEF1A1 is broadly expressed across most tissues and serves as a routine loading reference in immunoblotting, while EEF1A2 expression is more restricted to neurons, cardiomyocytes, and skeletal muscle, with elevated levels reported in certain tumor types including ovarian and breast carcinomas. The polyclonal format allows simultaneous recognition of multiple epitopes on each isoform, useful when probing conserved regions or comparing isoform expression patterns across different tissues and disease models.

Researchers commonly apply this antibody to whole-cell lysates and tissue homogenates to assess translation factor abundance, to monitor EEF1A2 reactivation in oncogenesis studies, and to normalize band intensity in western blot experiments where EF-1α acts as a housekeeping reference protein. The unconjugated format offers flexibility for downstream labeling with HRP, fluorophores, or biotin depending on the detection chemistry required by the assay.
