Edc3 is a cytoplasmic decapping coactivator required for assembly of P-bodies and turnover of mRNAs earmarked for 5' cap removal. The Antibodies.com polyclonal rabbit antibody targets the human Edc3 protein and is validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry on human samples.

Supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated antiserum, the reagent supports detection of the ~56 kDa protein across blotting and chromogenic IHC protocols. Researchers studying mRNA decay, stress granule dynamics, and translation repression rely on Edc3 as a marker for cytoplasmic RNA granules, where it scaffolds the LSm1-7 ring with the Dcp1/Dcp2 decapping complex. The polyclonal format offers broad epitope coverage across the LSm and FDF domains, while the unconjugated format lets users pair the antibody with HRP conjugates, fluorophores, or biotin labels to fit custom detection pipelines.

Edc3 contains an N-terminal Sm-like domain that binds the LSm1-7 heptamer and a C-terminal FDF motif that contacts Dcp1, enabling the protein to bridge the decapping enzyme with the LSm ring during 5'-to-3' mRNA decay. The reagent fits studies of nonsense-mediated decay, AU-rich element regulation, and stress-induced translational arrest in mammalian cell systems.

Handling recommendations: equilibrate briefly to room temperature before each use, store refrigerated, and aliquot upon first thaw to limit freeze-thaw cycles that can erode polyclonal titer over time.
