Anti-ECE1 Antibody

This rabbit polyclonal antibody targets endothelin-converting enzyme 1 (ECE1), a zinc-dependent type II integral membrane metalloprotease best known for hydrolyzing big endothelin-1 into the vasoactive peptide endothelin-1. The unconjugated reagent is supplied by Antibodies.com at 1 mg/ml in PBS containing 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, and the 100 µl aliquot is supplied ready for direct use in western blot and immunohistochemistry workflows against human, mouse, and rat samples.

ECE1 is broadly expressed in vascular endothelial cells, where it sits at the rate-limiting step of endothelin-1 maturation, so this reagent is a useful tool for cardiovascular and hypertension research, studies of endothelial dysfunction, and investigations into metalloprotease regulation of peptide hormone processing. Because the antibody was raised in rabbit and is polyclonal, it recognizes multiple epitopes across the ECE1 cytoplasmic and luminal regions, supporting detection of the full-length protein in cell lysates and in fixed paraffin or frozen tissue sections.

Store the vial at -20°C in the glycerol-containing buffer to preserve activity, and protect from light; aliquoting on first use is recommended, and repeated freeze-thaw cycles should be avoided.
