E2F-1 is a member of the E2F family of transcription factors that governs the G1-to-S phase transition of the cell cycle by activating genes required for DNA replication and division. This monoclonal antibody, raised in mouse and identified by clone 4G8, recognizes endogenous E2F-1 protein from human and rat origin and is supplied by Antibodies.com as a 100 µl purified preparation in 0.1 M Tris-Glycine buffer (pH 7.4) with 150 mM NaCl, 0.2% sodium azide, and 50% glycerol as a cryoprotectant. The unconjugated reagent supports Western blot analysis of E2F-1 expression across proliferating cell populations, immunofluorescence staining to localize the factor within nuclear compartments, and immunoprecipitation studies examining its interactions with retinoblastoma-family pocket proteins and DP dimerization partners. Researchers investigating oncogenic transformation, DNA damage responses, and apoptotic signaling commonly rely on E2F-1 detection, because the transcription factor is stabilized by ATM/ATR-dependent phosphorylation following genotoxic stress and accumulates at promoters of pro-apoptotic target genes. For best results, aliquot the antibody upon receipt to limit freeze-thaw cycles and store at -20°C; the 50% glycerol formulation maintains binding activity for extended use, with working stocks kept refrigerated at 4°C for short-term applications.
