This mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody from Antibodies.com recognizes E-Cadherin (CDH1), a calcium-dependent transmembrane glycoprotein that mediates homophilic adhesion between adjacent epithelial cells. It is supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated antibody in TBS buffer (pH 7.4) with 1% BSA, 40% glycerol, and 0.05% sodium azide preservative, and is validated for western blot, immunocytochemistry, immunohistochemistry, and flow cytometry on human and mouse samples.

The reagent is widely used to study epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), a process in which stationary epithelial cells lose cell-cell adhesion and acquire migratory, mesenchymal characteristics. Reduced E-Cadherin expression is a hallmark of EMT and is associated with tumor invasion and metastasis in carcinomas of the breast, colon, lung, and prostate. In healthy tissue, the antibody labels adherens junctions and lateral membranes of polarized epithelial layers, supporting studies of tissue architecture, development, and regeneration. The unconjugated format allows flexible pairing with custom fluorophores, enzymes, or secondary detection reagents.

For storage, keep the vial refrigerated and aliquot to limit freeze-thaw cycles. The Mouse IgG1 isotype is compatible with a broad range of anti-mouse secondary antibodies.
