This polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets deoxyuridine triphosphatase (DUT, also called dUTPase), the enzyme that hydrolyzes dUTP to dUMP and pyrophosphate during pyrimidine metabolism. DUT activity preserves DNA fidelity by keeping the dUTP pool low; without it, uracil is misincorporated into newly synthesized strands, activating base excision repair and fragmenting replicating genomes. The reagent is a rabbit polyclonal raised against recombinant DUT, supplied unconjugated in a 100 µl volume, and validated for western blot and immunohistochemistry on human, mouse, and rat samples.

In published cancer biology research, DUT has attracted attention as both a prognostic biomarker and a therapeutic vulnerability: tumor cells with elevated dUTPase levels resist thymidylate synthase inhibitors such as 5-fluorouracil, so anti-DUT antibodies are used to stratify cell lines, primary tumors, and xenograft tissue for studies of fluoropyrimidine pharmacology. Investigators working on nucleotide pool sanitization, thymidine salvage, and DNA repair signaling routinely pair this antibody with western blot quantification of the nuclear and mitochondrial DUT isoforms and with IHC on formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded sections to localize expression across tumor and matched normal tissue.

Cross-reactivity with mouse and rat in addition to human supports comparative work in knockout models, transgenic systems, and syngeneic tumor studies, where DUT regulation is tracked during drug treatment, oncogene induction, or cell cycle perturbation. The unconjugated format allows researchers to choose their own HRP, biotin, or fluorophore secondaries, making the antibody adaptable to chromogenic IHC, immunofluorescence, and standard immunoblotting pipelines in DNA metabolism and oncology laboratories.
