Mitochondrial fission research depends on accurate detection of DRP1 (Dynamin-Related Protein 1), a cytosolic GTPase encoded by the DNM1L gene that drives outer mitochondrial membrane scission. This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com is raised against DRP1 and supports western blot, immunohistochemistry, and ELISA workflows across human, mouse, and rat samples. The 100 µl volume supports multiple experimental runs. DRP1 oligomerizes into helical structures at prospective fission sites, hydrolyzing GTP to constrict and sever the mitochondrial tubule, and is recruited during apoptosis and mitophagy. Investigators apply this reagent to monitor DRP1 expression and post-translational modifications, including phosphorylation at Ser616 and Ser637, which govern mitochondrial translocation. Aliquots may be stored refrigerated to limit freeze-thaw cycles and preserve reactivity. Useful in studies of mitochondrial dynamics, neurodegeneration, metabolic disease, and programmed cell death.
