This polyclonal antibody recognizes DNASE1, a calcium-dependent endonuclease that catalyzes hydrolysis of phosphodiester bonds within single- and double-stranded DNA, generating oligo- and mononucleotide fragments. The enzyme contributes to chromatin breakdown during programmed cell death and to catabolism of extracellular DNA, including degradation of chromatin released from neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) and digestion of dietary nucleic acids in the gastrointestinal tract.

Raised in rabbit and affinity-purified, the reagent is supplied as an unconjugated IgG at 100 µl per vial, suitable for direct labelling in immunofluorescence (IF) and western blot (WB) workflows on human, mouse, and rat samples. In immunoblotting, it detects endogenous DNASE1 in cell and tissue lysates; on fixed cells, it produces a cytoplasmic staining pattern compatible with confocal fluorescence microscopy. Polyclonal recognition offers broader epitope coverage than monoclonal reagents, which can be useful when probing for protein variants or truncated fragments.

Distributed by Antibodies.com, the antibody supports research into NET biology, extracellular chromatin clearance, and DNASE1-associated autoimmunity, including systemic lupus erythematosus and lupus nephritis, where reduced DNASE1 activity has been linked to impaired removal of self-DNA and glomerulonephritis.
