Anti-DMPK Antibody

Raised in rabbit, this unconjugated polyclonal IgG antibody from Antibodies.com is supplied as a 100 µl aliquot for western blot detection of human myotonic dystrophy protein kinase (DMPK).

DMPK is a serine/threonine kinase whose gene is mutated in myotonic dystrophy type 1 (DM1); expanded CUG repeats in the 3' UTR of the DMPK transcript drive the RNA-mediated splicing defects, progressive muscle weakness, myotonia, cataracts, and cardiac conduction abnormalities that characterize the disease. Polyclonal antibodies against DMPK therefore support research into muscle cell signalling, RNA-binding protein function, and the molecular pathology of DM1 patient-derived myoblasts and fibroblasts.

Validated for western blot on human samples, the reagent is recommended for use with HRP-conjugated anti-rabbit IgG secondary antibodies and chemiluminescent detection. For long-term stability, store at -20°C in working aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Reactivity has been confirmed for human DMPK; cross-reactivity with mouse or rat orthologs has not been validated by the manufacturer and should be tested empirically before use in non-human samples.
