Disrupted in Schizophrenia 1 (DISC1) is a scaffolding protein widely studied for its roles in neuronal migration, cortical development, and mitochondrial trafficking within axons. This rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com enables researchers to detect endogenous DISC1 expression by Western blot and immunohistochemistry across human, mouse, and rat tissue sections. The unconjugated reagent is supplied as 100 µl of polyclonal antiserum, and pairs cleanly with either fluorescent or HRP-conjugated secondary reagents depending on the experimental design. DISC1 localizes to multiple brain regions including the hippocampus, cerebral cortex, and dentate gyrus, and the antibody is frequently applied to characterize expression in schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and major depressive disorder model systems. For storage, aliquot upon receipt and store at -20°C, avoiding repeated freeze-thaw cycles to preserve activity, and protect the vial from light during handling.
