A rabbit polyclonal IgG reagent from Antibodies.com raised against the Disrupted in Schizophrenia 1 (DISC1) scaffold protein, supplied as a 200 µL vial of unconjugated antibody. The reagent is validated for Western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) on human, mouse, and rat samples, and is useful for resolving the two principal DISC1 protein species of approximately 100 kDa (the canonical long L variant) and 75 kDa that are routinely detected on blots of brain lysates and cultured neural cell lines.

DISC1 is a 854 amino acid (~93.6 kDa predicted) scaffold protein that regulates neural progenitor proliferation, neuronal migration, and adult hippocampal neurogenesis through its interaction with partners such as NDE1, NDEL1, PDE4B, ATF4, GSK3β, FEZ1, and LIS1. The polyclonal format allows recognition of multiple epitopes on the target, supporting reproducible detection across fixed tissue sections and Western blot membranes. The reagent is appropriate for research use only investigations of cortical development, hippocampal circuitry, and psychiatric disease models including schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, and it can be paired with goat anti-rabbit IgG secondaries for chromogenic or fluorescent readout.

For handling, the vial should be aliquoted upon arrival and stored at -20 °C; repeated freeze-thaw cycles should be minimized to preserve antibody activity. The product is shipped refrigerated and is intended for laboratory research use only.
