DIABLO (also called Smac) is a mitochondrial intermembrane-space protein released into the cytosol during intrinsic apoptosis, where it binds inhibitor of apoptosis proteins such as XIAP and promotes activation of caspase-3, -7, and -9. This polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com is raised in rabbit and supplied as an unconjugated IgG preparation in a 100 µl vial, validated for Western blot, immunohistochemistry, and flow cytometry in human samples. Laboratories investigating programmed cell death, tumor resistance mechanisms, or mitochondrial signaling pathways can use it to detect endogenous DIABLO in lysates, fixed tissue sections, and suspended cell lines. The unconjugated format permits pairing with a secondary antibody of the researcher's choice, and the polyclonal nature enables recognition of multiple epitopes on the mature ~23 kDa protein as well as its precursor form. Short-term storage is handled by aliquoting and keeping the vial refrigerated with protection from light; the reagent is intended for research use only.
