The DIABLO protein, also called Second Mitochondria-derived Activator of Caspases (Smac), acts as a key regulator of apoptosis by being released from mitochondria into the cytosol during programmed cell death. This polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com is raised in rabbit and supplied as an unconjugated preparation in a 100 µl volume, supporting Western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence workflows on human, mouse, and rat samples.
Functionally, DIABLO promotes apoptosis by binding and neutralizing inhibitor of apoptosis proteins (IAPs), which removes the brake on caspase activation along the intrinsic mitochondrial pathway. Investigators studying tumor cell death, neurodegeneration, chemotherapy response, or developmental biology apply this antibody to monitor DIABLO translocation from mitochondria to cytosol and to compare expression across tissues and cell lines. Each lot is validated for the listed applications and shipped refrigerated to preserve reagent activity for short-term laboratory use.
