Dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (DHODH) is a flavoenzyme anchored on the inner mitochondrial membrane that catalyzes the fourth step of de novo pyrimidine biosynthesis, converting dihydroorotate to orotate. This rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com is supplied as 100 µl of a 1 mg/ml stock in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, and it cross-reacts with DHODH from human, mouse, and rat samples. The unconjugated reagent is validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry, making it suitable for studies of pyrimidine metabolism, mitochondrial bioenergetics, and the pharmacology of DHODH inhibitors such as leflunomide and teriflunomide. For storage, keep the vial at -20 °C in working aliquots to limit freeze-thaw cycles, since the polyclonal mixture may lose titer with repeated thawing. Researchers investigating autoimmune disease models, acute myeloid leukemia, or viral replication mechanisms that depend on host nucleotide pools can use this antibody to monitor endogenous DHODH expression in tissue sections and lysates.
