The DHCR7 enzyme (7-dehydrocholesterol reductase) catalyzes the final step of cholesterol biosynthesis in the Kandutsch-Russell pathway, converting 7-dehydrocholesterol to cholesterol. Loss-of-function variants in the DHCR7 gene are the established cause of Smith-Lemli-Opitz syndrome, a multiple malformation disorder of cholesterol metabolism, making the reductase a target of interest for studies on sterol biosynthesis, neurodevelopmental signaling, and SLOS disease modelling.
Supplied by Antibodies.com as a rabbit polyclonal IgG preparation raised against human DHCR7, this unconjugated primary antibody supports western blot detection of the endogenous reductase in human cell and tissue lysates. The 200 µl liquid volume is provided as a ready-to-dilute stock for downstream immunoblotting workflows, including membrane probing after SDS-PAGE separation. Because the reagent is unconjugated, it can be paired with an HRP- or fluorophore-conjugated secondary antibody matched to the rabbit host IgG, allowing flexible chemiluminescent or fluorescent readout.
For western blot use, block the membrane, dilute the antibody according to your system of choice, incubate, and develop with a compatible substrate. Refrigerated storage at 4°C is recommended for short-term use; aliquot and freeze for long-term storage to preserve activity across repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Research use only.
