The Antibodies.com anti-Desmocollin 2 polyclonal antibody is a rabbit-derived reagent raised against the desmosomal cadherin DSC2, an integral transmembrane component of desmosome-mediated cell-cell adhesion in epithelial tissues and cardiac muscle. Provided as an unconjugated preparation in a 100 µl volume, the antibody is validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry workflows and specifically recognizes the human target, supporting studies of desmosomal integrity, stratified squamous epithelium, and cardiomyocyte adhesion biology.

DSC2 has emerged as a protein of significant biomedical interest because loss-of-function variants in the DSC2 gene are causally linked to Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy, and altered desmosomal cadherin expression has been documented across multiple epithelial cancers. Researchers therefore apply the antibody to Western blot-based assessment of full-length DSC2 in patient-derived cardiomyocyte or epithelial lysates, and to IHC on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded cardiac and skin sections, where it can be used to map desmosomal staining patterns, evaluate tissue-level cadherin distribution, and screen for protein mislocalization associated with inherited or acquired desmosome defects.

Host species is rabbit, clonality is polyclonal, and the reagent ships without a fluorophore or enzyme tag, giving laboratories flexibility to pair it with secondary antibodies of their choice for chromogenic IHC or chemiluminescent Western detection. For storage and handling, the antibody should be kept refrigerated between repeated uses to preserve polyclonal reactivity across longitudinal studies of desmosomal adhesion and disease.
