Anti-Desmin Antibody

A rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com directed against Desmin, a ~53 kDa type III intermediate filament protein that forms the cytoskeletal scaffold of skeletal, cardiac, and smooth muscle cells. The reagent is supplied unconjugated in a 100 µl vial and is validated for Western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) workflows, with confirmed reactivity against Human, Mouse, and Rat samples.

Desmin is a well-established marker in muscle pathology and tumor diagnostics, where it is used to identify rhabdomyosarcomas, leiomyosarcomas, and other neoplasms of myogenic origin. It is also widely applied to research on cardiomyopathy, muscular dystrophy, and skeletal muscle regeneration. Because the antibody is polyclonal, it recognizes multiple epitopes on the Desmin protein, which can be advantageous when probing formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections or when detecting the target across different species in comparative studies.
