DEGS1 (dihydroceramide desaturase 1) is an endoplasmic reticulum membrane enzyme that introduces a 4,5-double bond into dihydroceramide to produce ceramide, a central step in sphingolipid biosynthesis. This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com is raised against DEGS1 and is validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry workflows on human and mouse specimens. The antibody is supplied as a 100 µl liquid aliquot and suits studies examining ceramide metabolism, membrane biology, and models of hypomyelinating leukodystrophy, where DEGS1 loss-of-function variants perturb myelin lipid composition. As a polyclonal reagent, it offers broader epitope recognition than monoclonal alternatives and performs reliably on standard SDS-PAGE lysates and on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections. Store refrigerated, protect from light, and limit repeated freeze-thaw cycles to preserve activity across long-term use.
