Anti-DEFA1 Antibody

A rabbit polyclonal antibody to alpha Defensin 1 (DEFA1) supplied by Antibodies.com as an unconjugated IgG reagent. The antibody is raised against a synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids 40–94 of human DEFA1 (NP_004075.1) and has been validated for Western blot and immunocytochemistry/immunofluorescence (ICC/IF) applications, reacting with human, mouse and rat samples.

Affinity-purified and supplied as a liquid in Phosphate Buffered Saline (pH 7.3) containing 50% glycerol and 0.01% thiomersal. The target protein has a reported molecular weight of 10 kDa. Recommended starting dilutions are WB 1:500–1:1,000 and ICC/IF 1:50–1:200. The product is shipped at 4 °C; on receipt it should be aliquoted and stored at −20 °C, with freeze/thaw cycles avoided.

Similar unconjugated rabbit polyclonal reagents against defensin alpha 1 are also available from other manufacturers: an IHC-validated anti-DEFA1/3 antibody raised against internal residues of human defensin alpha 1/3, supplied in PBS (pH 7.3) with 0.05% sodium azide and 50% glycerol at 2.7 mg/mL and detecting endogenous levels of total DEFA1/3 protein in human samples; and an anti-Defensin alpha1 antibody validated for IHC, ICC/IF and ELISA, raised against a synthetic peptide covering amino acids 3–52 of human Defensin alpha1 and reporting no cross-reactivity. The latter is supplied in PBS (without Mg²⁺ and Ca²⁺), pH 7.4, with 150 mM NaCl, 0.02% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, with recommended dilutions of IHC 1:50–1:100 and ELISA 1:10,000.
