Anti-Cytokeratin 8 Antibody

Produced in rabbit as an unconjugated polyclonal reagent, this Antibodies.com antibody recognizes Cytokeratin 8 (KRT8), a type II intermediate filament protein that pairs with KRT18 in simple epithelia, hepatocytes, and many glandular carcinomas. The antibody is supplied as 100 µl of liquid and is validated for Western blot, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, and ELISA workflows against Human, Mouse, and Monkey samples.

Practical applications include identifying epithelial-derived tumors in FFPE tissue sections by IHC, confirming epithelial contamination in cultured cell lines, tracking epithelial-mesenchymal transition in cancer models by immunofluorescence, and probing intermediate filament organization in hepatocyte biology. Because polyclonal CK8 reagents bind multiple epitopes along the 52 kDa keratin, they pick up the target even when fixation partially masks individual epitopes, making them a useful general epithelial marker when paired with CK18 staining.

To preserve activity, aliquot the antibody upon arrival to limit freeze-thaw cycles, keep working aliquots refrigerated, and return the stock vial to frozen storage between uses.
