The rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com recognizes Cytokeratin 7, a roughly 55 kDa type II intermediate filament protein expressed in the simple epithelia of glandular ducts, the respiratory tract, the urothelium, and several glandular tissues. CK7 immunostaining patterns are routinely used by pathologists to classify tumors: CK7-positive / CK20-negative profiles are characteristic of lung, breast, ovarian, endometrial, and thyroid carcinomas, whereas CK7-negative / CK20-positive profiles favor colorectal adenocarcinomas, making the marker a useful discriminator in differential diagnosis of metastatic carcinoma of unknown primary.

This unconjugated reagent is supplied at 100 µl and is validated for western blot, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, and ELISA on human samples. The polyclonal host response gives broad epitope coverage, which is helpful when probing denatured lysates on western blot as well as fixed tissue sections during immunohistochemistry. Researchers apply it across cell biology, oncology, and surgical pathology workflows where a stable epithelial marker is needed for tissue staining, immunoblotting controls, or co-localization studies alongside CK20, EMA, or other lineage markers.
