Cytokeratin 18 (CK18, KRT18) is a type I intermediate filament protein of approximately 48 kDa that is expressed abundantly in simple and glandular epithelial tissues, including hepatocytes, intestinal epithelium, and mammary epithelium. This polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com was raised in rabbit and recognizes the S48 region of CK18 in both human and mouse samples, supporting epithelial cell identification and characterization workflows.

The antibody is supplied as a 50 µl vial of unconjugated stock at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) with 0.05% sodium azide at approximately pH 7.2. The recommended handling is to refrigerate the vial, protect from light, and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles to maintain binding activity across the shelf life of the reagent.

Validated applications include western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence, where the antibody detects intact CK18 filaments in cultured epithelial cells, formalin-fixed tissue sections, and cryosections. In apoptosis research, CK18 levels detected by western blot can be tracked alongside caspase-cleaved fragment assays (such as the M30 neo-epitope) to monitor epithelial cell death. Confirmed reactivity covers human and mouse; performance in other species has not been characterized in-house.
