Cytokeratin 17 (KRT17) is a type I intermediate filament protein of approximately 46 kDa that is predominantly expressed in basal keratinocytes of stratified epithelia, hair follicles, and certain epithelial tumors. This Antibodies.com rabbit polyclonal reagent is supplied as a 100 µg liquid aliquot and validated for Western blot detection of endogenous KRT17 in human, mouse, and rat samples.

KRT17 expression is frequently used as a biomarker for basal-like triple-negative breast cancer and is upregulated in hyperproliferative skin conditions such as psoriasis and in pachyonychia congenita type 2, where germline mutations disrupt keratin filament assembly. Researchers also employ K17 immunostaining to identify basaloid squamous cell carcinomas and to study epithelial-mesenchymal transition, wound healing, and stem cell populations within hair follicle bulge regions.

For Western blot, load 20–30 µg of total protein lysate per lane, separate on SDS-PAGE, and probe at the recommended dilution. Store the vial at -20°C in working aliquots to limit freeze-thaw cycles, and protect from light. This unconjugated IgG reagent can be paired with HRP- or fluorophore-conjugated secondary antibodies for chemiluminescent or fluorescence-based detection.
