Raised in rabbit against the Cytochrome c1 subunit of mitochondrial Complex III (the ubiquinol-cytochrome c reductase complex), this polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com supports studies of electron transport chain function and apoptosis-associated mitochondrial events. Cytochrome c1 anchors the Rieske iron-sulfur protein and transfers electrons from ubiquinol to cytochrome c, making it a useful marker for evaluating respiratory chain integrity, Complex III assembly, and the mitochondrial outer membrane permeabilization that accompanies intrinsic apoptotic signaling.

The antibody is supplied as 100 µg of unconjugated whole IgG in a single vial and has been validated for western blot and immunohistochemistry workflows against human samples. Researchers commonly apply it to characterize Complex III subunit stoichiometry in patient-derived fibroblasts, tumor xenograft tissue, or cell lines engineered to model mitochondrial disease, and to monitor changes in cytochrome c1 abundance following oxidative stress or pharmacological inhibition of the respiratory chain. The polyclonal format provides broader epitope coverage than a monoclonal reagent, which is helpful when probing conserved regions of the heme-binding subunit.

Recommended storage at -20 °C in working aliquots preserves activity across multiple freeze-thaw cycles; for short-term use the vial may be kept refrigerated. The reagent is intended for research use only.
