Raised in rabbit as a polyclonal reagent against endogenous cytochrome c, this unconjugated primary antibody from Antibodies.com is supplied as a 50 µl liquid at 1 mg/ml in PBS containing 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, a standard affinity-purified format that keeps the IgG fraction stable during routine handling. The reagent is validated for western blotting and immunohistochemistry on human, mouse and rat samples, and the host, clonality and unconjugated status make it straightforward to pair with secondary detection chemistries of the user's choice. Researchers commonly apply the antibody to track cytochrome c release during apoptosis studies, mitochondrial fraction characterisation and IHC surveys of fixed tissue, with recommended starting dilutions in the range typically used for such polyclonal reagents against this 11–12 kDa mitochondrial protein. For best results the vial should be stored according to the buffer formulation (azide/glycerol, –20 °C in aliquots) and the product is intended for research use only.
