CYP8B1 (Cytochrome P450 Family 8 Subfamily B Member 1) is a microsomal sterol 12-alpha-hydroxylase that catalyzes a committed step in the classical pathway of bile acid biosynthesis, funneling 7α-hydroxycholesterol intermediates toward cholic acid and thereby shaping the hydrophobicity of the bile acid pool. This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com is raised against the CYP8B1 target and supplied at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) with 0.05% sodium azide at approximately pH 7.2. Validated applications include western blot (WB) for protein-level detection in tissue lysates and immunohistochemistry (IHC) for spatial localization in fixed sections. The antibody has been tested for reactivity against human, mouse, and rat CYP8B1, supporting cross-species research into hepatic lipid metabolism, cholesterol homeostasis, and related liver pathophysiology including non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and cholestasis models. The polyclonal format offers recognition of multiple epitopes on the CYP8B1 protein, which can strengthen signal in samples where endogenous expression is low or partially compromised. The product is packaged as a 100 µl aliquot, sufficient for several western blot and immunohistochemistry experiments. For best stability, refrigerate the vial, protect from light, and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles of the working aliquot. Intended for research use only, not for diagnostic or therapeutic applications.
