Raised in rabbit against a peptide epitope surrounding the R450 residue of human cytochrome P450 2D6, this polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com supports research into one of the most clinically important drug-metabolizing enzymes. CYP2D6 is a heme-thiolate monooxygenase of the cytochrome P450 superfamily that participates in hepatic phase I metabolism of approximately one quarter of all clinically prescribed medications, including codeine, tamoxifen, many antidepressants, antipsychotics, and beta-blockers, which makes reliable detection tools valuable for pharmacogenomic, toxicology, and individualized drug-response studies.

The unconjugated antibody is supplied as 100 µl of a 1 mg/ml stock in phosphate buffered saline with 0.05% sodium azide at approximately pH 7.2. It is validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry workflows across human, mouse, and rat samples, allowing cross-species comparison in liver microsome preparations, brain tissue sections, and recombinant expression systems. The unconjugated format provides flexibility to pair the antibody with HRP, fluorescent, biotin, or alkaline phosphatase secondary reagents, and the polyclonal composition offers tolerance for minor sequence variation around the target epitope.

For routine handling, refrigerate the vial for short-term use and, for longer projects, aliquot into smaller portions and freeze to limit freeze-thaw cycles of the 1 mg/ml stock. The included sodium azide at 0.05% acts as a preservative and is compatible with most Western blot and immunohistochemistry workflows, although it should be washed out when applying the reagent in azide-sensitive reporter systems or live-cell assays.
