CYP1A2 is one of the major drug-metabolising cytochrome P450 enzymes expressed in human liver, responsible for the oxidative clearance of caffeine, theophylline, clozapine, and several other clinically relevant substrates, and for the bioactivation of procarcinogenic aromatic and heterocyclic amines. This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com was raised against CYP1A2 and is validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry on human samples.

Each vial contains 100 µl of polyclonal antiserum intended for the detection of endogenous CYP1A2 protein in liver microsomal preparations, hepatocyte-derived cell lines, and formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections. The unconjugated format gives researchers flexibility to pair the primary reagent with their own HRP-, biotin-, or dye-labelled secondary detection system, depending on the workflow.

Common uses include Western blot analysis of microsomal or whole-cell lysates to investigate CYP1A2 induction by aryl hydrocarbon receptor ligands, and immunohistochemistry of hepatic tissue to characterise zonal expression across the liver lobule. Because CYP1A2 levels are modulated by smoking, certain dietary constituents, and several medications, this reagent supports pharmacokinetic, toxicology, and drug-drug interaction studies where isoform-specific profiling is required.

For long-term storage, aliquot the antiserum and store at -20 °C; avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles to preserve antibody activity. Working stocks may be kept refrigerated for short periods, with appropriate protection from light when used downstream with fluorescent detection.
