Anti-CYP11B1 Antibody

Polyclonal rabbit IgG raised against cytochrome P450 11B1 (CYP11B1), the steroid 11-beta-hydroxylase anchored in the inner mitochondrial membrane of zona fasciculata cells that catalyzes the final step of glucocorticoid biosynthesis: conversion of 11-deoxycortisol to cortisol. Because CYP11B1 loss-of-function variants cause 11-beta-hydroxylase deficiency, one of the two classical forms of congenital adrenal hyperplasia, the protein serves as a routine marker in steroidogenesis research, adrenocortical differentiation studies, and disease modeling. Common downstream uses include probing adrenal cortex homogenates for cortisol-pathway status, screening CRISPR/Cas9 knockouts in HAC15 or NCI-H295R adrenocortical cells, and separating CYP11B1 from the closely related aldosterone synthase CYP11B2 by band size in zona sub-compartment lysates.

Recommended Western Blot workflow: load 20–40 µg total protein per lane from adrenal tissue or steroidogenic cell line, resolve by SDS-PAGE, transfer to PVDF or nitrocellulose, block, then probe with the primary reagent at the supplier-recommended dilution and reveal with HRP- or fluorophore-conjugated anti-rabbit IgG secondary.
