Anti-CYP11B1/2 Antibody

This polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com is raised in rabbit and recognizes both CYP11B1 (steroid 11-beta-hydroxylase) and CYP11B2 (aldosterone synthase), two closely related mitochondrial cytochrome P450 enzymes that catalyze the terminal steps of adrenal steroidogenesis. CYP11B1 converts 11-deoxycortisol to cortisol and 11-deoxycorticosterone to corticosterone in the zona fasciculata, while CYP11B2 performs the final conversion of corticosterone to aldosterone in the zona glomerulosa.

The reagent is supplied at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline (approximately pH 7.3) with 0.05% sodium azide as a preservative, in a 50 µl vial. It is unconjugated and validated for western blot detection of endogenous CYP11B1/CYP11B2 in human, rat, and mouse samples, supporting studies of adrenal cortex function, glucocorticoid and mineralocorticoid biosynthesis, and models of congenital adrenal hyperplasia.
