Cytoglobin (CYGB) is a heme-containing member of the vertebrate globin family, broadly expressed in connective tissue, neural, and hepatic cell populations where it contributes to oxygen sensing, redox balance, and the regulation of fibrotic signaling cascades. This Antibodies.com reagent is a rabbit polyclonal antibody raised against CYGB and is validated for Western blot and immunofluorescence workflows. It is supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated antiserum and has been confirmed to react with both human and rat cytoglobin, which makes it useful for translational comparisons between patient-derived samples and rodent disease models. Because CYGB expression is frequently altered in activated hepatic stellate cells, hypoxic neural tissue, and several solid tumor types, the antibody is used in studies of liver fibrosis, ischemic injury, and tumor microenvironment biology. The polyclonal format allows recognition of multiple epitopes on the target protein, which is helpful when working with truncated or partially degraded protein in crude lysate preparations. For best results, store refrigerated in working aliquots to preserve activity across repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
