Developed by Antibodies.com as a polyclonal reagent for cytoglobin (CYGB) detection, this unconjugated rabbit IgG antibody is validated for Western blot and immunofluorescence workflows across human, mouse, and rat sample types. CYGB is a heme-bearing member of the globin superfamily that has been linked to intracellular oxygen handling, protection against oxidative stress, and proposed tumor-suppressor activity, so reliable antibodies against it are useful in studies of cellular stress responses, fibrosis models, and cancer biology. The host species is rabbit and the clonality is polyclonal, allowing recognition of multiple epitopes on the target, which can improve signal-to-noise when antigen expression is low or partially denatured.

Each vial is supplied at 200 µl of liquid stock, unconjugated, ready to pair with a secondary antibody of the researcher's choice (HRP, Alexa Fluor, biotin, and others) for chromogenic or fluorescence-based readout. Suggested applications include Western blot analysis of CYGB near its expected molecular weight of roughly 21 kDa, as well as immunofluorescence on fixed cells and tissue sections to visualize subcellular localization, since cytoglobin is reported in both cytoplasmic and nuclear compartments depending on cell type. For storage, refrigerate the vial short term; for longer term storage the antibody should be aliquoted and frozen to preserve activity across repeated freeze-thaw cycles, and protect from light if the stock is used in fluorescence workflows.

Because CYGB shares sequence homology with other vertebrate globins such as neuroglobin and myoglobin, pairing this primary antibody with appropriate negative controls and confirmation at the mRNA level is recommended when working in tissues where those related globins are abundant, particularly in nervous system and muscle samples.
