This polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com targets Cathepsin L1 (CTSL1), a lysosomal cysteine endopeptidase encoded by the CTSL gene on human chromosome 9q22.2. The antibody is raised in rabbit, supplied unconjugated, and validated for reactivity with Human, Mouse, and Rat samples in Western blot (WB) applications.

The preparation is provided as 100 µl of liquid antiserum at 1 mg/ml in Phosphate buffered saline (PBS) supplemented with 15 mM sodium azide, pH approximately 7.2. It fits immunoblotting workflows where CTSL1 proenzyme and mature heavy-chain bands, which resolve around 25–35 kDa depending on glycosylation and activation state, require sensitive detection on nitrocellulose or PVDF membranes.

CTSL1 is a papain-like lysosomal cathepsin implicated in lysosomal protein turnover, MHC class II antigen processing, and extracellular matrix remodeling. Published investigations track its expression in tumor invasion models, osteoclast-mediated bone resorption, viral entry pathways, and cardiovascular proteolysis, and this reagent supports equivalent experimental approaches in standard Western blot formats.

For handling: keep the vial refrigerated for routine use, aliquot upon first thaw, and freeze at -20 °C for long-term storage to limit freeze-thaw cycles. The 15 mM sodium azide acts as a preservative; avoid direct addition to live-cell or primary culture preparations that cannot tolerate the preservative concentration.
