Raised in rabbit against an internal fusion-protein fragment of human cathepsin L, this polyclonal IgG reagent from Antibodies.com detects endogenous CTSL across its pro- and mature forms. It is antigen-affinity purified and supplied as an unconjugated preparation at 1.8 mg/mL in PBS (pH 7.3) containing 0.05% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, shipped cold at 4°C and intended for storage at -20 °C in single-use aliquots to limit freeze-thaw damage.

Validated applications include western blot and immunohistochemistry on human and mouse samples. In-house validation images show clear bands on 15% SDS-PAGE gels loaded with 40 µg of mouse kidney or A172 cell lysate per lane using a 1/900 primary dilution and a 1/8000 HRP secondary with a 10-second exposure, plus nuclear and cytoplasmic staining in paraffin-embedded human brain tissue at 1/40. The unconjugated format leaves the antibody free for direct laboratory conjugation to fluorophores, biotin, or HRP when a custom detection scheme is required.

Because cathepsin L participates in extracellular matrix turnover, MHC class II antigen processing, and lysosomal-mediated endosomal entry, this reagent supports studies of tumor invasion and metastasis, osteoclast bone-resorption models, and viral entry pathways that exploit cathepsin activity. The 100 µl vial size is sufficient for multiple mini-blots or IHC runs, and the polyclonal nature broadens epitope coverage across the protein relative to monoclonal alternatives.
