Cathepsin K (CTSK) is the lysosomal cysteine protease responsible for cleaving type I collagen during active bone resorption by osteoclasts, and this rabbit polyclonal IgG reagent from Antibodies.com is raised against it for use in Western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) workflows. The polyclonal format increases the likelihood of recognising multiple epitopes across both the pro-Cathepsin K zymogen and the mature, processed enzyme, which is helpful when probing denatured lysates by WB as well as fixed tissue sections by IHC.

Supplied as an unconjugated 50 µl aliquot in a single-use vial, the antibody has been confirmed reactive with Mouse, Rat, and Duck samples. Because Cathepsin K is a hallmark enzymatic marker of differentiated, bone-resorbing osteoclasts, the reagent is commonly chosen for studies of osteoporosis, osteoclastogenesis, rheumatoid arthritis, ectopic calcification, and bone-metastatic tumor invasion, where it serves as a marker of resorptive activity and as a downstream readout of RANKL signalling.

For short-term storage, refrigerate at 4 °C; for longer-term storage, aliquot and freeze at -20 °C, and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles to preserve antibody activity. The product is intended for research use only.
