The Antibodies.com polyclonal antibody reagent targets Cathepsin E (CTSE), an aspartic protease that resides in endosomal and lysosomal compartments of certain immune and epithelial cell populations. Cathepsin E participates in MHC class II antigen processing in B cells, dendritic cells, and gastric epithelial cells, and altered expression has been reported in gastric pathology, immune cell maturation studies, and tumor microenvironment research where lysosomal protease balance shifts.
Supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated antibody raised in rabbit, the reagent is configured for western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) workflows. Reactivity against both human and mouse CTSE supports parallel interrogation of patient-derived material and corresponding murine model samples, which is useful for translational comparisons of protease distribution.
Because the antibody is unconjugated, it can be paired with a secondary detection system of the user's choice, including HRP, biotin-streptavidin, alkaline phosphatase, or fluorescent labels, providing flexibility across chromogenic and fluorescence imaging platforms. For WB, lysates prepared under mildly acidic denaturing conditions help preserve the relevant epitope; for IHC, antigen retrieval with citrate buffer at pH 6.0 followed by standard peroxidase or fluorescence development is appropriate on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded sections. The polyclonal format increases the chance of recognizing more than one region of the target.
Investigators studying antigen presentation, gastric tissue biology, tumor-associated protease activity, or immune cell signaling can use this reagent to map CTSE expression patterns in normal and disease tissues, with reproducible readouts across the supported WB and IHC applications.
