CTSE (cathepsin E) is an aspartic protease studied for its role in antigen processing within epithelial and immune cells, making it a marker of interest in mucosal immunology and gastrointestinal research. The Antibodies.com anti-CTSE polyclonal reagent is raised in rabbit and supplied at 50 µl as an unconjugated primary antibody suited to Western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence workflows on human, mouse, and rat samples.
Cathepsin E accumulates in endolysosomal compartments of gastric epithelial cells, renal tubular epithelium, and specialized antigen-presenting populations such as Langerhans cells and certain dendritic cell subsets. Investigators studying gastric carcinoma biology, renal pathology, and dendritic cell maturation rely on anti-CTSE antibodies to localize endogenous expression and to differentiate cathepsin E from the related lysosomal aspartic protease cathepsin D, which shares limited sequence homology but differs in cellular distribution and processing kinetics.
For handling, aliquot the rabbit polyclonal antibody upon arrival to limit freeze-thaw cycles and keep refrigerated between uses; the unconjugated format leaves the immunoglobulin available for downstream conjugation with HRP, fluorophores, or biotin in custom detection protocols. Polyclonal reactivity across multiple epitopes of the target supports consistent detection in standard blotting and staining workflows.
