CTSA, also known as cathepsin A or protective protein/cathepsin A, is a lysosomal serine carboxypeptidase that forms a stable multimeric complex with β-galactosidase and neuraminidase. Loss-of-function mutations in the underlying gene cause galactosialidosis, and the protein has been studied in lysosomal storage disorders, neuropeptide processing, and tumour cell biology.

This rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com is supplied at 1 mg/ml in a 50 µl vial, formulated in phosphate buffered saline with 15 mM sodium azide at approximately pH 7.2. It has been validated for Western blot detection of CTSA in human, mouse, and rat sample lysates, recognising epitopes accessible in the ~54 kDa precursor as well as in processed lower molecular weight forms reported in tissue expression studies.

For handling, aliquot the stock and store at -20°C to minimise freeze-thaw cycles, and protect the vial from light. The unconjugated IgG format is compatible with user-chosen secondary labelling, and the polyclonal composition can be advantageous when probing cleavage intermediates or comparing cathepsin A levels across tissues in cell biology and neuroscience workflows.
