This rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com targets Cathepsin A (CTSA), a lysosomal serine carboxypeptidase that functions as a protective protein for beta-galactosidase and neuraminidase inside the lysosome. Loss-of-function mutations in the CTSA gene cause galactosialidosis, a lysosomal storage disorder characterized by combined beta-galactosidase and neuraminidase deficiency, giving the target strong relevance for groups investigating enzyme complex stability and lysosomal cathepsin biology.

The antibody is raised in rabbit and supplied as an unconjugated, liquid preparation at approximately 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline (PBS, pH 7.2) containing 15 mM sodium azide as a preservative. Each vial contains 100 ul of working reagent, sufficient for multiple western blot experiments on lysates prepared from human, mouse, or rat samples. The polyclonal format provides broader epitope coverage than a monoclonal reagent and pairs naturally with denaturing SDS-PAGE detection of full-length CTSA.

Validated for WB application with Human, Mouse, and Rat reactivity, this reagent supports expression profiling across cell lines and tissues, characterization of disease-associated variants, and studies of CTSA processing and trafficking. For handling, the vial should be stored refrigerated and protected from light; the sodium azide concentration makes the reagent inappropriate for direct addition to live cells but remains compatible with standard western blot workflows.
