Cystinosin is a seven-transmembrane lysosomal membrane protein that exports cystine from the lysosomal lumen, driven by the H+ electrochemical gradient. Mutations in the CTNS gene cause cystinosis, a lysosomal storage disorder in which free cystine accumulates inside lysosomes and progressively damages the renal proximal tubule, cornea, and other tissues. The rabbit polyclonal CTNS antibody offered by Antibodies.com is raised against human cystinosin and detects the endogenous ~45 kDa protein in western blot and immunofluorescence workflows. Cross-reactivity has been confirmed in human, mouse, and rat samples, making it suitable for translational studies of nephropathic cystinosis and related proximal tubule pathology. The unconjugated IgG reagent is supplied as 50 µl of ready-to-use stock in a single vial; for best results, store aliquots at -20 °C and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
