CTNS encodes cystinosin, a lysosomal membrane transporter that exports cystine from the lysosomal lumen into the cytoplasm. Loss-of-function mutations in this gene cause cystinosis, an inherited lysosomal storage disorder marked by progressive renal proximal tubulopathy, corneal crystal deposition, and growth failure in affected children.
This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal IgG reagent from Antibodies.com was raised against cystinosin and is validated for western blot and immunofluorescence workflows on human, mouse, and rat samples. The antibody is supplied as 100 µl of stock solution in a vial and should be stored at -20 °C, ideally aliquoted into single-use portions to limit freeze-thaw cycles of the active reagent and preserve epitope recognition over time.
Intended for research use only, the reagent supports studies of lysosomal biogenesis, cystine handling, and the molecular pathology underlying cystinotic kidney disease, including investigations of how cystinosin mislocalization drives Fanconi syndrome and proximal tubule injury.
